Sian Ka’an Reserve – Punta Allen
In the Mayan language, Sian Ka’an means “born from the sky”. The Sian Ka’an reserve is a magical place, characterized by its bio-diversity: jungle, marsh, mangrove lagoons, shallow bays and an extraordinary coral reef. This natural reserve is famous for its numerous cenotes, its hidden Mayan ruins and its only inhabited place, Punta Allen, a small village of lobster fishermen. This coastal zone was declared a national park in 1986 and since 1987, it has been part of the U.N.E.S.C.O. World Heritage Program. In this protected zone, unique in the world for its underground river system, you will find many different species of animal, such as toucans, American Jabirus, stork, white ibis, heron, armadillo, lizards, dolphins, turtles, blanket rays, starfish, and many, many more....

Our Advice
We recommend that clients bring their bathing suit, sun glasses, a towel, sun screen, insect repellant, binoculars, their camera and cash, as in this area you can not find ATM machines, nor do any of the vendors accept credit cards. The guides appreciate tips for great service, and you are sure to leave with great memories.
